Emily Hirsh:

Hello, everybody. Welcome back to the podcast. I can’t even believe this is the topic. I’m like, wow, we are really starting to talk about Black Friday and the holidays coming. And I know everybody feels that way, but it’s just crazy how fast time goes. Like this year, I seriously feel that every year it gets faster. And I don’t know if it’s like my kids and activities and how full things are, but It is so crazy. I’m constantly trying to slow down time and soak it in because it just goes so fast. So yes, we are talking about Black Friday today because the more prepared you are for it, the better. And Black Friday is such a huge opportunity for most businesses.

Especially if you have shown up consistently over the last year, this year, and you’ve got an audience and you’ve got some leads. Isn’t that pretty big? I say at least a hundred people. Black Friday is a massive opportunity for a cash infusion for your business and again, the more ahead of time you can be planning and preparing, just the more grounded and intentional you can go into a promotion in what is sometimes a really busy time. So I’m actually teaching, this will be the third year that I teach this, my annual Black Friday workshop. It’s a paid, really reasonable, low priced workshop. We go for about two hours and I break down step by step by step how to have a Black Friday sale. You have a workbook with it and you essentially plan out your entire Black Friday sale, all the assets, everything you’ll need, what the sale’s gonna be, how to have the messaging right and set it up for success, everything you would need to have a successful Black Friday sale and then we have Q and A. And so you will walk away from that workshop with an entire promotion planned, the messaging, the strategy, the assets, and we are hosting it October 3rd. So that’s plenty of time for you to plan out your sale and then be able to execute it between now and Black Friday, like more than enough time.

So if you want to attend that workshop, it is embodiedmarketing.com/BF, that’s embodiedmarketing.com/BF. And this is one of my most popular annual workshops. Honestly, we like toyed with, are we going to do it again this year? And from a peer standpoint of how much money I’ve been able to make people by executing their black Friday sale. I’m like, we have to do it. You know, I don’t even care. Um, how many sales we make of it. And if, if it’s worth it for me, like my time, it is worth it because I just think that this is such a huge opportunity that’s often missed for businesses. So. First of all, first thing I want to say is a lot of people pause in the question and say, should I do a Black Friday sale because everybody does one and I don’t want to just add to the noise, which I get. I understand valid concern. There are a lot of Black Friday sales that happen during that time period and it can be loud. You’ve got all the big companies doing Black Friday sales and most other companies.

However, Black Friday sales are very targeted to your warm audience. They are to your existing following, your leads, people who consume your content, your social media followers. And so really you’re not adding to noise, but you’re taking a stand and showing up as your business to your audience who has a relationship with you. And this will be especially successful for those of you who spent time this year growing that audience and growing your leads. And people during Black Friday are looking for deals. They are wanting to spend money with companies that they follow and that they trust and they are looking for deals. So I feel personally that if you choose not to do a Black Friday sale because you are afraid of adding to the noise out there, who loses in that situation? Really just you and the opportunity for your audience to get an awesome deal and be able to buy something that maybe they’ve been sitting on the fence to buy for a while and now you just gave them the reason. So actually it’s serving your audience.

And it’s not adding to the noise. It’s giving yourself the platform which you deserve as a business. Like I just feel sometimes in the online space that small business owners are like so afraid of being too much. I hear this a lot. Like I don’t want to send too many emails. I don’t want to talk about my offer too much. I don’t want to do this. It’s like you’re running a business. And if you believe that your offer is going to serve your audience and obviously do it in a way that’s connecting and authentic, then It’s not too much like you’re not doing it in a scammy sleazy way. So that’s number one. I think you should do a Black Friday sale if you have at least a hundred people in your warm audience, a hundred social media followers, email list, people who consume your content. This is an opportunity for your business that you deserve because you’ve built these relationships all year.

Number two, you don’t just have to do a discount. There’s a lot of people who don’t want to discount their services or their products. That’s fine. You can also create a different type of an offer, which I go into that in my workshop in detail, but I want to say you don’t have to discount your offer, your product, your service to run a successful Black Friday sale. So here are three Black Friday strategies that I’m going to give you to get the wheels turning, starting to think about Black Friday and highly recommend you come to my workshop because I’m going to dive so deep and the pre-work that we have and the workbook that we have that fills it out, like you will have an entire strategy plan for you.

So the first thing is people make the mistake when it comes to Black Friday where they say, oh, I’m going to discount my service or I’m going to add this bonus and like that is enough reason for someone to buy. What I want you to do when you think about what your Black Friday sale should be is you ask yourself, how could I create a reality where getting to the end result that I want someone to get to when they buy my offer, when they buy my product, when they buy my service can happen faster and easier? Because that is the most successful bonuses or let’s say you’re gonna discount, then how can you communicate that? It’s not about like people think, oh, if I just mark my products 10% off, then everything I talk about is going to be like, this product is 10% off. No, you still have to sell it. And if you’re going to create a bonus for your Black Friday offer, so you’re not going to discount it, but you want to create a bonus. When you’re deciding what that should be, when you’re deciding what your promotion should be, I’m telling you how you create the most successful Black Friday promotion is you answer the question, how can I get my ideal customer the result I promise faster and with less work?

And then see what comes up in terms of bonuses or if you’re going to discount it. You communicate that through the messaging. That is what we communicate when we actually are selling a Black Friday promotion. It’s not, hey, this is my offer and it’s 10% off or this is my offer and here’s the bonus. You have to remember that means nothing to the ideal customer. What they care about is the transformation that this offer is creating. And so if you add in a bonus or you really want to say, Hey, now’s the time I offer 10% off. Now’s the time to buy it. What is the outcome? How are you communicating? You’re going to get to your end result fast and easy. Cause that’s what people want. Second important strategy to consider is having enough time to make sure you’re nurturing your audience and you’ve got a little bit of a runway before this promotion. This is really, really important. It doesn’t mean you have to spend weeks saying, like look out, at a Black Friday sales coming and I’m going to tease this. That’s not what I mean when I say a runway.

First of all, we’re only at the end of September. There’s still a lot of time to grow your email list and grow your audience in preparation for a Black Friday sale. So if you have a funnel, if you have visibility ads, if you have ways that you are growing your audience with real true fans and your email list, maybe dial that up a little bit or ask yourself, how could I get that implemented quickly? Because you still have almost two months as of right now to really grow that because those are the people that are going to potentially buy your Black Friday offer. That’s number one. Number two is nurturing them. You can’t be radio silent all of October and most of November and then come out the gate with a huge Black Friday promotion and expect it to be successful. So how are you showing up consistently for this audience and for these leads?

And making sure to nurture them with content, show up for them, whether that’s Instagram stories, whether that’s weekly newsletter emails to your list, whether that’s social media posts. The more that you can nurture, and it doesn’t mean don’t sell, you can send people to your offer between now and Black Friday, 100%. You can do a live launch between now and Black Friday. But how are you showing up to grow and nurture your audience? And we’re talking about this early enough this year that you have a lot of time to even grow your audience before a sale, which I love Black Friday sales. I love promotions and cash infusions because they allow you to capitalize on previous work. You earn the right to be able to do a Black Friday sale by showing up consistently and both growing and nurturing your audience and leads beforehand. So today, right now, you have the opportunity to get that in motion or scale it up so that you’ve got a solid foundation come time to run the promotion.

So that’s the second strategy. First one is your discount or your bonus or whatever you do to push your offer or your service has to be associated with speed and ease. Second one is a runway beforehand of growing and nurturing your audience. Start now, start today. Get that in place because you will not be sorry that you did. The third piece is your messaging around your promotion. I kind of touched on this with number one, but it’s a little bit different because number one is how you choose what your promotion is, your bonus, your discount. Number three that I’m going to talk about is how you communicate what your promotion is, which is still following sales 101. And that is outcome based language. So when you plan your Black Friday promotion, this is what I do with you on the workshop. I help you literally map out, okay, how many emails do I need? How many social posts, videos? Am I running retargeting ads? Am I not running retargeting ads? Like what are all the assets that I need to go into this promotion?

When you go to create those assets and you write the email copy, you write the social media posts, you create the video where you speak in it. Everything you talk about needs to focus on the outcome and the promise of your offer. Again, nobody cares that your offer is 10% off, or you added a strategy call bonus, or you bundled these two courses together and you can get buy one, get one free, like all those things. Yeah, you’re going to say those things, but nobody actually cares about that when you don’t tie it with an the outcome. If your offer is 10% off, why should I jump on this 10% off discount to be able to get to XYZ outcome? If you’re bundling these two courses together and I buy them, what’s the outcome? Why do I care? If you have an extra bonus that includes a strategy call or a strategy audit or whatever, what’s the outcome?

You have to use outcome based language in all of your copy, all of your assets for your Black Friday sale. Don’t just focus on the what. People make this mistake and they’re like, it’s good enough because I have this bonus. I have this discount. I have this. And so everybody’s going to want to buy it. No, people still buy based on emotion. They still buy based on the transformation. They believe they will get with your offer. So all of your assets need to focus on communicating the outcome very clearly, very simply. So I’ll help you on the workshop flesh that out. We will flesh out what your strategy is, we’ll flesh out what the promotion is going to look like, the dates, how long, what type of assets you need, and then how you’re going to communicate in those assets. And you have plenty of time to create incredible assets for your Black Friday promotion.

So these three strategies, which really not a lot of people talk about, I think people focus on like, this is how you do a Black Friday sale and it should be this and you should send five emails. And the reality is, as with everything with marketing, your Black Friday promotion is an experience that you’re creating. And so when we connect with the experience, How do we communicate the outcome? How do we create an experience that gets somebody to want to engage with our promotion, with our assets, with our emails and our social posts, and come from a place of connection and emotion?

You do that and you’ll be successful. And it is a massive opportunity for you to create cash in your business quickly because you don’t have to spend a lot of money. If anything, you don’t have to run ads and you get to put this out to your audience that you have grown and nurtured for who knows how long this year, maybe more than this year, and you will make sales. You will make sales if you’ve got that minimal audience, you got at least a hundred people. The more, the better, the more sales you make, but you will make sales if executed correctly. So I hope to see a lot of you guys on my workshop happening October 3rd. You can get your ticket at embodiedmarketing.com/BF and it’s going to be good. I’m very excited. I will talk to you guys next week.
