Save your Spot if you haven’t yet for that embodiedmarketing.com/challenge. In today’s episode, I wanna talk about something that has come up so many times in one-on-one sessions that I’ve had between our new mastermind members with people who have gotten bonus one-on-one strategy calls with me.

This I find is this like recurring theme that comes up and so I wanna talk about it on the podcast. And that is the question of. Should I also do this thing? I have this offer, I have this funnel, I have this strategy. I have this part to my business. Should I also add this thing? And I think this is where having a mentor, having somebody to bounce these things off of is honestly so important because this is a tough one.

It’s not black and white sometimes for entrepreneurs. And I even find myself here and I have to either call up a mentor, talk to the people I’m in a mastermind with friend, whatever team, sometimes okay, let’s talk this through. Does this make sense? But I wanna talk through the way I respond to that so that if you are also somebody who frequently has new ideas and new ideas for offers, for funnels, for strategies, for parts of your business, maybe even new business ideas, like you can use this process to weigh if you should do that, because I think this is such an important.

skill to know what to say no to and what is an opportunity that you should say yes to. And the thing with it is a lot of times it’s not black and white. And that’s why it’s hard, because you can have an opportunity that is I know that this could massively help my business. This could be a really successful offer, or this could be a successful funnel.

But then I also have this stuff over here that I’m working on. I don’t wanna take away from it too much. What should I do? So the first thing is, I would say a lot of the time my answer is for them to focus. So my answer is no. Don’t also do that thing. However, let’s talk through how I get there and how I sometimes say, oh yeah, that could be the right thing.

So if you’re weighing, should I do this other thing? Should I add this strategy, this offer, this piece to my business? You have to sit with and ask yourself. Okay. what’s the main outcome right now I’m trying to achieve in my business? And of course it’s increased revenue, but let’s look at that.

Let’s look at, okay, our goal is to increase revenue in order to do that. Where’s the gap right now? Are we getting leads? Are we getting traffic? Are we getting leads and we aren’t selling enough of our offer? Could we sell more of our offers? You kinda have to do this like diagnostic of your business of.

If I look at the next 90 days, let’s say, what is the main thing? If I had to choose one focus, what is the main thing I wanna focus on and what will move the needle to my growth the most? Like where is the opportunity? Where is the current gap? So I’ll give you an example. I had a one-on-one meeting with someone and she was like, I’m trying to decide do I add this other offer in?

I have this other off. I have this offer right now that is working to an extent. It’s selling. We run this masterclass, we sell people into it. I need to get more people into the masterclass. That’s why I hired you guys for the ad. So great. We’ll do that. Should I focus on also launching this other thing?

And I said, okay if we increase your traffic to your funnel and we increase. The amount of leads you’re bringing in and then you show up on the masterclass and we’re selling those people. I said, okay, let’s think about the experience that the leads have, that now you have a higher volume of leads coming in.

How’s your content game? And she’s oh, it’s pretty much non-existent, but when I do content it, it does really well. And I said, okay, so if gonna invest in us, running ads to this offer, it is already working. We’re gonna scale it, we’re gonna get more leads in it. Do you think it would be more leverage for the business if you took the ti the time you have, which isn’t a ton, but you took the time you have and you put it into content and you put it into nurture?

Because we’re gonna make some content for her as it relates to this specific funnel. But like she doesn’t have nurture content and she’s yeah, that would be better because I know I’m gonna be running ads, they’re gonna be going to my profile. I’m not really posting content. If I created more content and I put my time into that, it would.

Improve the result from what we’re already doing. And then I said, then let’s say 90 days from now, we’ve got this dialed in. You’ve got your content, you’ve got support with that. We’ve got all these leads coming in. You have people feeding into your offer. Maybe you’ll be ready for this next offer. But right now, I think the answer is no.

And so that’s the question is you gotta go, what’s the outcome? Let’s break it into 90 days. What is the main outcome? We are trying to achieve over the next 90 days. What’s the biggest problem we’re trying to solve? What’s the biggest gap we’re trying to fill? What’s the biggest result we’re trying to get now based on that?

This thing I’m considering doing? Will it get me there more than other things I could be doing? And then you have to challenge yourself. What are other things I could be doing? So if this is my main outcome, what are other things I could be doing to move that forward, just like I did for this client of looking at the pieces and saying she’s not doing content.

And that would help what she’s already investing in. And so if your main outcome is more sales, you’ve got a way, is this extra offer, this extra thing? Is that the biggest thing that’s gonna move more sales? Now, If you were in a situation where you weren’t getting any sales, what you were doing was not working at all, it was like trying to force something, maybe a new strategy would actually make sense for you, maybe a fresh, evolved strategy or even evolved offer.

Sure. I could see that. I could see that making sense. And so that’s why it’s not black and white. It’s not always. Yes or no to the focus. But you have to sit with okay, what’s the outcome we’re trying to achieve? And is this the best way to achieve it? And then you have to challenge yourself and ask, what are the other things I could do to get to the same outcome?

And what would be the most leveraged thing this happened on another call, someone said, I’m super maxed out on time. Like I don’t have enough time to do anything. I have a funnel that is set up and it is functional and it is working, but it’s not on go high level. If I move to go high level, I could cancel like this subscription and this subscription.

It would save me, I don’t know, a hundred dollars a month. Should I take all that time? I can’t pay someone yet. She said, should I take all that time moving my stuff to go high level to save the a hundred dollars a month? And I was like, no, you absolutely should not, because the amount of time that’s gonna take for you yourself to move all your stuff over, to go high level, to learn, go high level, and to save a hundred dollars a month is not worth it.

But it’s like when you’re in it. When you’re so in it and you need to, be slim and operate that way. I get it. I get why? That’s a thought. I said no. Focus on how do you get a few more clients at $2,000 a month, $2,000, right? Then take a portion of that and pay someone to do this. I say this all the time in the podcast, but you’ve got to treat your time and energy like it is gold.

Like it is the most valuable resource and you have to be relentless with what you allow. Take your time and energy, and here’s the problem that a lot of entrepreneurs have, myself included, is we have a very jaded perspective around how long something takes and how much we can. And I’ve had to really learn this because I, all the time, I’m very fast.

I can do a lot, but I still convince myself I can do way more than I can. Or I’ll be like, oh, that’s super easy. It’s just like a few, just change a few things and then it’s a whole project, right? And it takes team resources, it takes investment, it takes my time. And it’s was that really the thing that is gonna move the needle?

And these decisions are something that I think A CEO is constantly weighing, and these decisions take capacity. You have to have capacity to think through these things because if you’re just reacting, you’re like, Ooh, I got this idea. I’m gonna go work on this. Ooh, I got this idea. I’m gonna start working on this.

Then you’re one of those entrepreneurs who starts a bunch of projects, doesn’t finish them, stays in the same place, is paralyzed to take action, and is ultimately overwhelmed. You gotta get control of that. And so the process that I use when somebody asks me this is I go, what are we trying to achieve?

Are we clear on that? A lot of times they haven’t even defined it. They haven’t even said it out loud of what they are trying to achieve and why they’re looking to take these actions. And then, okay, what are all the other things we could be doing based on what you’re doing right now? Are there things that we could do better?

Are there things we could do more? Are there things we could shift and change? Or is this the thing that is gonna get us to that outcome quickly? And also, I see this come up. Where a lot of people are very attached to wanting to help people in multiple ways. Like they’ve got this thing that they’re really good at and they can help people with, but they’re like, but I’m also passionate about this and this makes a bigger impact and I wanna be able to do this.

And sometimes that can be a part of the vision, but it’s like a not yet thing. So in my mastermind, I worked through this With a few of the girls of figuring out, okay, there’s all these ways that you can impact people and this one right here you’re super passionate about, and it can be part of the business model and part of the long-term plan, but it’s like a let’s set it in the parking lot.

It’s not yet because all of this stuff is what’s gonna drive the most revenue and drive the most impact and is, based off of your experience and based off of what you have done so far. And we’re building on top of that. And so that we can unlock being able to do this. And even in my business, I think about this, there’s a lot that I wanna do beyond just marketing, and I do a little bit of it, right?

I have my live events, I have my retreats, I have my mastermind that goes into more than just marketing, but the engine of supporting people with their marketing. That is the engine of my business. That piece of it. And so if I lose focus on that and decide Ooh, I’m not as passionate about this anymore, I lose the main part of my business.

And the reality is that main part of my business allows me to have the impact in the other ways. So I can’t decide on board with it. And Alex Hermo talks about this a lot of like boredom, right? Like a business is a lot of times doing the boring work. And it’s continually doing more of what’s working and doubling down.

And it’s not always this like new, exciting, inspired energy. It’s not, there’s moments of that. There’s pieces of that. Like I think you can bring that out in your content. I think you can bring that out in live experiences you host, but you can’t lose focus of the core of your business. And this is, that’s a dangerous spot that entrepreneurs get themselves in, is because they do something for so long.

And because we’re also entrepreneurs, we don’t like the same, that’s why we’re not in a nine to five job, right? We don’t wanna do the same thing every day. We don’t wanna say the same things. We don’t want to look at the same stuff. We have to create new in our life and in our business, but also sometimes the things that grow a business is the repeatable, consistent same actions.

And this is where. Discipline comes in and constantly weighing like, what is the most aligned thing? What is the thing that’s going to get the best results? That’s going to move the needle towards the outcome. Now, if you told me, my main outcome is I don’t care about the money. I just wanna feel alive over the next 90 days.

That might change things, right? It’s okay, lean into that. If the money in the revenue is not the main outcome and you wanna feel really excited again about your business ’cause you felt burnout and you know that is going to eventually lead to the money, that might change the decisions.

You’ve gotta know where you’re going. You’ve gotta know the goalpost so you know why you’re doing the things that you’re doing. But like I said, that feeling of like restlessness and I have to do something new and I’m bored. You will be there a lot of times in a business that is going well, that is working well.

And so you have to figure out what are my outlets as a visionary that allow me to still express that piece of me that wants new, that wants exciting, that wants fresh while not disrupting what’s working? And you see this, so I see this all the time in entrepreneurs where they’ve got a business that is like working really well and they could scale it.

And it wouldn’t even be hard to really scale because they have all these things working, but they come in and they just drop a bomb on their team or on their business, and they’re like, let me just shake things up a little. I also think this is why you wanna be removed from the day-to-day of your business because.

We will mess it up like a CEO. I will mess up the day. A team and good operations is very predictable. It’s repeatable, it’s predictable, it’s boring. It’s process. It’s step one, step two, step three, right? The visionary side of entrepreneurship is like chaotic and exciting. You can’t have those things.

They need to come together in relationship, but you don’t want them sabotaging each other. You need the visionary. You need the creativity. You need the new, you need the person going. Let’s look ahead and think about what’s happening and weigh all these things and filter all these ideas. You also need the opera operations that runs like a well-oiled, repeatable machine.

And if you take the visionary side and you blow up the operations because you think you’re bored. Or you think you’re not inspired enough or fulfilled enough. Ultimately it just stops your business growth. So it’s not about not having new ideas. You’re gonna have those so often you’re probably a visionary, right?

It’s about learning the skill of. How do I know when it is something to pursue or to not? Or to say, okay, let’s save that for later. Or there’s somewhere else that needs to get my time and energy. And so don’t fall into the trap of you can do it all. You can have it all in life. You cannot do it all. And if you tell yourself like, I’ll just keep taking those things on, I’ll just add that.

I’ll just do that. Like you end up stuck. So in so many of my conversations, it was me giving people permission. Not to pursue something or to pursue something in some cases, but having to weigh all of that and I will say this at the end of the day too, if you are weighing something like this, you’re weighing a decision.

Here’s what most of the time happens. When somebody asks me this question, they will ask me. I’m trying to decide if I wanna do this offer too, or if I wanna go this direction, or I wanna launch this strategy and I can’t decide, and then they keep talking and they answer their own question. They’ll be like, because this would take a lot of time away from this.

That’s going well, but I really wanna do it. But I also know this. And then I let them talk. And I’m usually like, you already know the answer. You just told me the answer, so let me give you permission and let me back it up with my knowledge. But you already know. So there’s a lot of things in business too, where if you just actually give yourself the space to talk it through and tune into that intuition and.

You talk it out, you know the answer, and then you make the choice and you make it the right choice. So I just wanted to share that on this episode for, because it seems to be a very common place that people get stuck in their head of, do I do this thing, project new funnel, new offer, new part of the business, a pivot, whatever.

And ultimately, you are the only one who can answer that question. It’s your business. You make the rules. There are no rules and you make the rules but you’re, it’s constantly a game of what is this gonna take away from and is this moving us towards our main goal right now? Our main outcome? And there will be a lot of things that you have to say.

No, not right now. I’ve had to set down really great opportunities because I’m like, okay, that’s a really good opportunity and I know it, it could be successful. But is the success of that gonna take away from the success over here? That could be five times as big, and we have to call those shots as the CEO.

Having someone to soundboard off of and a mentor is really helpful because it’s a constant game of these decisions. All right, everybody, a quick one today. Hope to see so many of you in our new free challenge next week. It’s gonna be so fun.

It is brand new content, brand new experience. I’m super excited and I know it’s gonna be really impactful for your business. Clarity on actions, clarity on your marketing strategy, and being able to go and implement that. All right everyone, I’ll talk to you next time.
