Emily Hirsh:

Hello, everybody. I hope you are having a fabulous week. I will be in San Diego this week with my family, actually meeting up with all three of my brothers and my mom in San Diego. And my kids get to meet their baby cousin who was born four months ago. So it will be a fun week. We’re escaping the Texas heat again. Grateful for that. Get a little beach after we got two weeks in the mountains. Super, super grateful. So today’s episode I wanted to focus on three underrated ways to grow your business I think now more than ever is such an important time to really focus on what moves the needle keep things simple and really think through and remember what we know works versus chasing the bells and whistles, the extra things and overcomplicating ultimately our marketing strategy.

I also know that a lot of business owners are in a place where it’s like, I need to make sure I make sales. I need to make sure that I have stability in my business, that my marketing strategy works and that I see sales coming into my business. And so I need to make sure that the things I do and the actions I take and the time and the money investment and energy and resources I put into whatever I’m doing to grow my business, I need to make sure it works and it pays off. So here are three ways that always, always work to grow your business. The first one is something that I teach also a new business owner who isn’t quite ready for ads. This is how I teach getting your first handful of sales. And that is direct conversations and direct relationship building. This is such an underrated way that people do not talk about enough because everybody is so into automating and sales funnels and lead generation and ads.

Which again, I’ve said this many times, but is very, very important. That’s a very important piece to your marketing and having direct conversations and building direct one-on-one relationships with ideal customers is always going to work. And so one challenge I have for you this week, if you don’t do this regularly and you feel that this would support your business right now is how can you spend a certain amount of time a day? Maybe it’s 30 minutes, maybe you have 45 minutes, maybe it’s 20 minutes. How can you put a time commitment and spend that time just connecting. Because it’s hard to sometimes measure this. It’s like, okay, do I send five DMs? But what if nobody responds? Well, then I would have more time and I could spend 20. Or what if two people respond and I have really good conversations with two of those people? That’s great, right? So if we put a time amount on this as the goal, and then the goal is consistency around this, I find that that works better. so Can you dedicate a certain amount of time this week? It can again be as short as 20 minutes, doesn’t have to be a lot. And the sole purpose of that time is to connect with your ideal customer and to actually have conversations.

This could be in the form of people you already know and are in your phone or on your Instagram or your email. This could be connecting with your followers in your Instagram DMs. This could be maybe finding a list of 10 dream potential future customers and messaging them and connecting with them or engaging with them, giving them some love on their content or replying to their stories. It should be very casual, very authentic, but the goal is to connect like a true connection and then see where that goes. Because I promise you that every single time when I have had somebody do this, they realize one, how easy it really is. Two, people want your support. So it’s not shady or inauthentic to have a genuine conversation with someone. And then if it naturally leads that way and you’re talking about what you do to support people, it can lead to your offer. It can lead to your free training in an authentic way. This is not DMing someone. Like, I get a million of these that are like, hey, do you want an appointment setter? Or like, hey, I’ll write your email newsletters. Like, it’s not cold DMing. It’s connecting, genuine connecting, and then seeing where that goes.

Put a time commitment every day do this for a week, do this for two weeks and I promise you there’s absolutely no way you won’t have momentum from it. And the and the kind of interesting thing about this too is you don’t really know necessarily what that momentum is gonna be because. but It could lead to so many things yeah it could lead to a customer it could lead to a new client it could also lead to a guest podcasting episode. It could lead to a connection through that person to somebody else who’s perfect for you to know. Like you don’t know where connections are going to lead, but I always find that if you make it consistent in making those connections, it will always pay off. So that’s number one, direct connections, direct conversations, a certain period of time every single day, and just focus on that consistency and let it go where it needs to go. Second underrated way to grow your business is simplicity and going all in on one core irresistible offer. I asked this question to all of our clients in ah in a workshop ah last week and I said,

What is the one thing that you want to be known for? Like if you could only be known for one thing, it could be an offer, it could be a problem that you solve, it could be a unique method that you have, like what is that one thing? And to be honest with you, I shared this in last week’s series. I think I lost sight of this a little bit and it’s a lesson that I continually learn as an entrepreneur because we are visionaries. We have a lot of ideas. We want to solve a lot of problems and we convince ourselves we can do all the things, but it’s a very, very underrated power to go all in and focus on one thing. And that doesn’t mean you can’t do other things sometimes, but are you really giving one thing, one core, irresistible offer the attention it deserves?

Because if you have one core, irresistible offer that when people hear about it, they cannot say no to it. Like it is so good. It is better than any other offer out there to solve that same problem. You have thought through every way to make it unique and creative and really dig deep in solving a problem, serving your audience and both giving them what they want and need and keeping it simple. Like if you spent the rest of this year going all the way in on one core irresistible offer and your one mission was to make this offer, the most incredible offer out there, the most irresistible, the most magnetic offer out there, and then all in on attracting the exact right person to that offer. I really feel that a lot of times we think we are clear on something and we’re not. And this is a lesson I’ve seen play out in many ways for humans, even in relationships, it’s like you have these expectations and then when you look deeper, you’re like, but I never stated those. And I wasn’t even fully clear on what they were in my head. And yet I expected somebody else to fulfill those expectations.

Are you really, really clear on the one core offer and the one core strategy or focus of your business. Have you brought the depth that can be so powerful when you bring a level of depth to one thing and you go all the way in and you kind of cross that threshold? You know what I’m talking about? That threshold of like, where you’ve got an idea, you’re making it happen, you’re moving it forward and it’s happening. And then there’s this threshold where it becomes like a mission. And it’s like, I will not, not be successful with this. I will no matter what make this happen. And I will do everything it takes to make this the best offer, to make sure it sells, to be clear on my messaging, all those things. So just sit with that. Like how could you bring simplicity and clarity to your one core irresistible offer and marketing strategy around that offer? The third underrated way to grow your business is consistency in your foundation. This is so simple.

Truly, if you make your goal to consistently grow your audience and generate leads, you will be successful in your business. The businesses that win in their marketing are the ones that see growth every week that are consistently growing their audience with valuable standout content and are consistently generating leads into an experience that now easily converts them into a sale. Notice how I didn’t say consistency in making sales. I know and believe in the way that I teach marketing is sales are a byproduct of everything else we do. We oftentimes look at sales as the number one goal we need to make sales. Yes, we need to make sales, but the way that we make sales is through a byproduct of all the things that we do in our marketing, which don’t have to actually be that complicated. The way we make sales is we generate an audience and we build raving fans through powerful standout authentic content and we generate leads and we put them in a valuable experience that then converts them. And if you bring consistency to that, there is no way you will not be successful, especially when you combine it with the previous one I said on number two, which is going all in on a core irresistible offer.

Nobody can fail doing that. Nobody can fail in their business doing that. It’s just a matter of how long does it take for somebody to accomplish those things. It’s that simple. Marketing truly is simple. And I’m not saying it’s always easy. Sometimes things don’t work and it takes time to flesh out messaging and you try strategies and they don’t work out how you hope they would. All of that is a normal part of marketing, a hundred percent. But marketing gets to be simple. And if you really focus on these three things for the rest of the year, there is no way that you won’t see massive momentum, massive progress, massive success. So when the noise gets louder, when a lot of people are trying to tell you what you should and shouldn’t do and this is working and this is not working and they’re trying to lead with this fear that is out there today, really just come back to and remember what you know.

What you know is true. What we know works and don’t feed into that chaos. Don’t feed into that overwhelm because that’s a choice. And when you stay grounded and you stayed focused and you stay really committed and devoted to your mission, which you have to be clear on, but you stay committed and devoted to that. Again, you can’t fail. You can’t not be successful. It’s just a matter of when. And all of us have to go through, you know, different journeys and different time periods and different lessons to get us to that point, but you will get there when you come back to this time and time again.

All right, everybody. I hope this gave you some things to think about and maybe adjust with your marketing strategy. I would highly recommend you to sit down and look at, okay, what is everything I am doing right now? And what’s actually moving the needle? And how can I focus and harness my time and my energy and the resources I have to have more impact than spreading them out too wide? All right, I will talk to you all next week.
