Emily Hirsh:
Hello everybody. Welcome back to the podcast. Happy Thursday. Oh, I’m having a really, I don’t know, good slash kind of weird week. I don’t know, just, I have had like a few things happen that I’m like, that was weird. That was just like weird, but it’s been a good week, a good start to September. I am going to share this because I get to share this, but I have been working to get a bar muscle up, which is where you get yourself up over the top of a pull-up bar for several months like probably two or three and i have probably attempted to do it 200 300 times failed failed failed and yesterday it clicked and i did it and i was freaking out like i was so excited it was the weirdest thing because I felt like for the last month, I was doing the same thing, which is getting really high and I couldn’t get over the bar every single time, like same thing, same thing, same thing. And then yesterday I only had five minutes and I had to go to my daughter’s soccer practice and I was like, whatever, I’ll just try a few of them.
And I went and did it, didn’t get it, didn’t get it. And then I got my elbow, like, partway over and I was like, oh my gosh, I almost have it I have to keep going and then I got it like it just clicked and once I got it I did like eight and I was like, oh my gosh it just clicked and all of a sudden I could do it and that’s the same thing that’s happened for me a few things in CrossFit including double unders with the jump rope took me forever to get those and then all of a sudden I can just do 30 40 in a row but anyways, I was so excited. I actually cried. I was so excited because I wanted it so bad, but just what a beautiful, beautiful lesson in that one moment where I finally got it required 200, 300 failed attempts in order to get there. And I just think that it’s so important to remember that because I want to harness that feeling yesterday because now I can do them and so I’m going to keep practicing them but it’s not going to be as exciting when I get it, right?
But understanding that we oftentimes only look at that moment, that moment where it clicks together and this is so true for business too like the moment where you have the big launch or you hit your first million dollars or your first six figures or whatever the milestone is that you’ve been working towards and You see that milestone and you show that milestone and most people just see that milestone being achieved and then you start to forget the journey that it took to get there and the work that it took the showing up that it took the practice the failures the failed attempts like that’s the most important piece of this is.
You literally cannot make progress and cannot evolve and cannot grow without failing because if you don’t try to do something that you can’t do yet, how are you going to be able to do it? So just sit with that for a minute like in business, in life.
I think humans so often we love and naturally gravitate towards a comfort zone and it’s very easy to get in a routine in your business, in your life, with your fitness, whatever, where you stop trying new things because you’re comfortable. But what would happen if you challenged yourself this month of like, let me just try a few different things that have maybe been in the back of my mind that I want to do them, but I’m a little afraid. I’m unclear. I don’t know if I’ll be good at it and just do them. And like, you can only get better. You can only improve that. I mean, this could be creating a certain piece of content for your business. This could be recording a podcast, recording a video. Making a webinar like every single time you do something for the first time you’re not gonna be as good at it as the tenth time and The only way to get better at it is doing it. So anyways, I’m very proud of myself. The gymnastics moves in CrossFit are really challenging for me. I’m really tall and I Actually shared this in the podcast. I think like I don’t know six months ago I started to use the fact that I was tall as an excuse why I couldn’t be really good at CrossFit. And I was like, I would Google, this is crazy. This is what my brain would do. I would Google the top CrossFit athletes and look at their heights. And I’d be like, see, none of them are five foot 10 or higher. They’re not really.
CrossFit definitely is a sport that is an advantage towards shorter people in most things, but I was letting that actually stop me from doing the best that I could and training harder and trying to go for a bigger goal because I was like, well, I’m too tall. So being able to do a bar muscle up at five foot 10 for me, I mean, two, three years ago, I could barely do a pull up. So it’s a huge accomplishment. And I put a reel on Instagram with a bunch of my failed attempts, not even all of them, I have even more videos. And then finally getting it if you want to watch it.
All right, so today what we’re talking about is how to make more money with very little effort in your business. And this is actually a really good complimentary episode to Tuesdays.
Tuesday I talked about your marketing ecosystem and making sure that you had consistent, regular resources and effort and energy being put into the different buckets of your marketing. Nurturing, lead generation, your ads, your organic, your email marketing.
And so when you check that off and you consistently do have your marketing ecosystem growing and having energy being put towards all those different areas, you have a benefit that you get to reap this reward from, which is now you are consistently growing your audience and your leads. And so you get to continually capitalize on that. And this is where I think sometimes people get lost in the very like tunnel vision of a single funnel and trying to make all their money from that and they really miss out on this opportunity.
So we have a client who we just helped do $18,000 in bonus sales. We came up with the whole strategy. We wrote the emails and we did retargeting ads and it was super, super simple. And I want to give the backstory of this. So this is a client who’s been with us for probably over a year. They run consistent ads every single month to a couple of different funnels. They grow their list. Their funnels produce two, three return on ad spend. They have a webinar funnel, lead generation funnel, and a couple of digital products.
And they run ads every single month. And then these entrepreneurs also have another part to their business that is a service. And they can get very busy in that part of their business. And so they were in a season where they were like, look, we can’t really show up and do anything new for our marketing. Like we have to let these funnels run and we can’t live launch until like middle of October. And we haven’t live launched in like a month and a half. And so our team was like, okay, that’s totally fine, but why don’t we create two different opportunities to create a cash infusion for your business that takes almost no effort on your part, but will generate money for you because we’re not live launching for another six weeks. We haven’t live launched for six to eight weeks.
And it would be good for your overall revenue to just bring in some cash. And so we sat down with the client, we presented a labor day sale and then another like 48, I think 72 hour extra bonus in one of their courses that we were going to push out. And this is such an easy promotion because this is only to existing leads, only to an existing audience and All that needed to be done to be able to execute this was we wrote six emails that went out over the period of Friday through Monday for Labor Day. and Then we did retargeting ads. and We targeted all of their list, all their following, their website traffic, all their warm traffic buckets. We spent $500 on the ads to retarget all of those audiences.
And between the emails and the ads and they promoted it on their organic social media, it brought in $18,000. And so that’s $18,000 that they would not have made had our team not said, hey, we need to create a cash infusion for your business. Here’s some ideas. And they’re like, easy, we’ll do a Labor Day sale. And then we’re gonna do another one that’s probably gonna do just as well, if not better. And so this is such a great example of the benefit of a marketing ecosystem and understanding they only spent $500 to make $18,000 but they got to do that because every single week they grow their list, they run visibility ads, they show up on social media and they email out their list one time a week, a YouTube video. So they nurture them. So they’ve created a marketing ecosystem and now they get to say, let’s have a reward from that. And we can do this about once a month.
So my invitation for you is to sit down and think about, first things first, you have to do what I said in Tuesday’s episode.
If you don’t have a marketing ecosystem and you’re not consistently growing your audience and your leads, you will forever struggle in your marketing. And I don’t say that to scare you, but it’s impossible to be successful if you’re not growing your audience and growing your email list.
And then the second that you commit to that and you make that a non-negotiable for your business, and you have a strategy that does this and you see that growth every single day. It is just a matter of time until you’re successful because you’re bringing in ideal customers. And now it just comes down to the offer and the offer positioning and selling them. Now, in this client’s case, they had a proven offer. We sell this offer every single month. So we just leverage that. Regardless, you need to step number one, make sure I am consistently growing my audience, growing my leads.
Now, with that marketing ecosystem, how can I plan out a promotional calendar that allows me to have something happening every month, even if it’s not a live launch? This is so easy to send out five, six emails and run retargeting ads. Like that is such a simple promotion that if you have the ecosystem and you have the regular growth, you get to leverage to be able to make more money for your business with very little effort, very little investment because you already did invest. You already did put the investment in it. So plan out this calendar. This could look like a flash sale timed with Black Friday, for example, or Labor Day. Like these are all great opportunities if you want to leverage for doing a sale. Now I only recommend doing an actual like discounted sale a few times a year. I don’t like overdoing this because then you train your audience like, oh, I’ll just wait for the next one because they do this all the time. But it could be a flash sale. It could be like the next one we’re going to do with this client is a bonus that’s being added to their existing offer over a period if you buy within that 72 hours. So it’s just an extra incentive to get someone to buy right then.
So it could be a bonus. It could even just be a push for like, Hey, I, I have five spots that have opened up for clients. It’s the beginning of the month. And so this is where I like to use seasonal marketing because there’s always things happening and you see the best of the best businesses do this, right? They leverage the time of the year and holidays and different events with their marketing calendar to give them an excuse to easily sell. So you could have back to school. You’ve got summer. You’ve got the holidays. You’ve got the new year. You have a spring. like You have all these things that happen on top of different specific holidays that we can run sales on if we choose that. And that’s just an excuse to be able to leverage that within your messaging.
Because no one really cares. like We could have done this sale on any day, but because it was Labor Day, it gave us an excuse to say, hey, we’re doing a Labor Day sale.
Same thing with this bonus we’re gonna tie it into the fact that we’re heading into the holidays there’s a way to tie that in so. Look at your marketing calendar and ask yourself every month what is something that I could do to create buzz around my offer and re-engage my existing audience and my existing leads and push them to buy. And it’s done in a fun way. This gives you angles for your copy, angles for your messaging. And I’d say about every three months, make that a live launch. So do a two-day workshop, do a challenge, do a webinar, do something that’s like a little bit bigger of an experience, and then in the months you’re not doing that, just do a promotion but not like a heavy sales obnoxious promotion, you’re doing it in a way that is connecting and you’re creating angles or reasons for someone to buy. And you have to understand like, as long as you have your ecosystem happening, where you’re growing your audience, you’re growing your list and you’re nurturing them in between these times.
It’s not going to annoy people that you’re doing this. They don’t see everything you put out. Just like I talked about on Tuesday, a typical journey for somebody when they first see your brand is they they jump around. like They don’t read every email and see every social post and every ad and take every action. They jump around. and so sending once a month some promotional emails when in between all of that you’re nurturing them. That’s obviously an important part to this. You don’t want to have a situation where the only time you send an email to your list or the only time you post on social media is to promote. I mean, that’s obnoxious and not building a relationship in between. But if you’re showing up and building the relationship in between the promotions, no one is going to be annoyed. So don’t be afraid. Don’t be hesitant to talk about your offer and shout from the rooftops why people need this and why people should buy this.
So my invitation is definitely to go back, listen to Tuesday’s podcast, make sure you have that in place. And honestly, you guys, like if you don’t have it in place, book a call with my team at helpmystrategy.com is a link because it’s very challenging to do this all on your own and i Just think that so many of you guys hold yourselves back trying to do it all on your own and out of a fear of investing in that support and investing in that guidance and Why not just have us create the entire strategy for you? I mean look at this clients investment in us not only
Not only does she make that money every month from her funnels that we run, we do all the funnels, all the copy, all the ads for, but we came up with that strategy and then made it as easy as possible for her to execute it. And so that’s $18,000 that wouldn’t have happened without that strategy. I don’t take the full credit for it. She obviously has an audience that she nurtures. She has an incredible offer. That’s all her. But we came to the table and said, this is what we should do to make you money. And that’s the benefit of having a team driving your marketing.
So make sure you have your marketing ecosystem and then say, am I capitalizing on my efforts by creating opportunities for people to buy from me over and over again? How can I leverage seasons, times of year, different angles that would be relevant at different times of the month to promote my product and constantly put new wrapping paper on the same thing? And if you do this, like this is the payoff that you get for being consistent. That is so huge. like This is actually where a lot of the profit comes because we made $18k for this business with $500 ad spend. Now, some marketers might be like, oh my gosh, we got a whatever, 18X, or I think it’s even more than that, return on ad spend. Yes, we did, but you have to also take into consideration that this client is able to do that because they invest every month on growing their list and running ads to their funnels that are profitable, but this was a cash infusion, one of my favorite strategies to implement for a business.
All right, everybody. I hope you found this helpful. As we head into this last bit of the year, I cannot recommend enough that you make sure you have a solid marketing strategy in place, that you are not operating your business out of reactive mode and very haphazardly throwing things together in your marketing. There is no way that sitting down and having a marketing strategy developed for you from the visibility and the audience growth and the content to the lead generation to the email marketing and the experience post lead generation to the sales conversion to these flash sales wouldn’t make you more money. No way. So if you want to explore chatting with my team, you can go to helpmystrategy.com. We are the best of the best. I’ve been so blown away with the things that we have going on and results that we’re getting for clients. So, all right, everyone, I will talk to you next week.
