Emily Hirsh:
When someone comes across your brand right now, within the first, minute, what is the message? What do you want your business to be known for? What is the problem that you solve, the desire that you fulfill as a business? The reality is, if you are a business owner and a creator, you are also a leader in the industry.
It’s not just about what you say, it’s how you say things. It’s how you represent them. Embodied CEOs don’t chase trends. They pave the way they lead from within. Move by purpose, unshaken by noise. When you are the source, you do not need permission. Hello everybody. Welcome back to the podcast. I am in such an incredible energy posed, embodied marketing live.
I’m also feeling better. My gosh, I had I was sick and I recorded podcasts. Sick, and you maybe could have told. On the last podcast, I was like pausing and I gotta go blow my nose. My team had to edit it. I got better for the live event. Like I felt great. You could still hear it. And then the day after the live event, I was feeling pretty good and I also hadn’t worked out in three days, so I was like, I’m gonna go for a run.
And I ran ten four hundreds at a pretty hard pace. And it was like immediately after my eyes started watering and I started feeling sick again for a day and a half. So I think my body was, sometimes my body and my mind don’t agree on how hard we can go, and I continually learn this lesson and get better at listening to the two, but I definitely have been going hard.
But the event was absolutely incredible. The best one yet. I think there’s a lot of factors that go into that, but the biggest one being every single event I get better at facilitating and my team gets better at executing. Like every time we learn and we get feedback on what worked and what didn’t work, what we tweak and change just a little bit, and then we bring that into the next event and it was an incredible group of people.
Just such incredible, supportive, open inspiring energy, and was an amazing experience. All the workshops I taught were new content that I hadn’t taught before. I refreshed everything. I basically do that every time. There’s some core C components that we repeat, but otherwise it’s all fresh and it’s very much like what the group needs.
And this last group’s theme. Was around really stepping into like truth and conviction and power in their messaging. That was very much the theme of the group of continually this is what I stand for. This is what I don’t stand for. And like refining that voice and that truth that is within them and for whatever reason, whether it’s.
They were told not to talk about it, or they got so wrapped up in marketing should be this and this template and this and that they forgot. But that was the theme of this group. And so that’s very much what we what we dug into a lot of the week. But it was incredible. I am riding the high, I every time I’m like, I could do this every month.
I think that I could. Do it every month, fill the room and just execute the events. But our next one is gonna be July 30th, embodied marketing.com/live has the tickets now on sale July 30th to August 1st will be the next Embodied Marketing Live, and it’ll be amazing. So today what I wanna teach on the podcast is a little piece of a workshop I taught at the live event.
Also taught this briefly in my obsessed membership, and both times it really hit people in a positive way. And so I wanna just, I’m gonna bring the concept onto the podcast, but in the workshops that I taught in Obsessed and at the live event, I turned it into a workshop. So I asked really powerful questions to go with it, to help people actually clarify and define these things.
And so this, I was calling the three Cs. And it’s all about becoming an Unignorable brand. And I talked about why of course that’s so important, right? There is so much noise out there and we need to get people to pay attention to us as brands. Attention is currency. But I went even deeper than that of it’s not just attention that we are after.
We don’t just want views and just want attention because that doesn’t actually create. Momentum in sales, in the business, you need attention and you need trust. So if attention is currency, then trust is the bank account. And if you garner attention through media and content and creating, you build the trust through what the message and the identity is behind the content, the conviction, and the powerful.
Clear messaging and brand identity that is behind the content. That’s how you create the trust, and you need both attention and trust to have a successful marketing strategy to convert buyers today. And so there are three Cs that I defined in how to create that, how to become an Unignorable brand in your content.
And in everything you do in your marketing, and I think these are very important things to sit with. And so the way I taught this is I taught it and then we did a workshop and I asked really clear questions that got people thinking in ways that they hadn’t before. So that is, there is a version of that in our obsessed membership, but I’m just gonna teach them at a high level today just to get you thinking.
So the first C is clarity. Looking at every Unignorable brand, every brand that when you see it, you pay attention to it. It captures attention, it garners that attention, but it also has that trust. The first one is they are clear. They are clear on the problem they solve, on who it’s for, and also what they stand for.
So the first thing in becoming an Unignorable brand is you have to have that clarity and the clarity drives the next two Cs that I’m gonna talk about. So in order to have that clarity, the questions that I asked, I’m not gonna say all of them, but just give you an overview for you to think about is like when someone comes across your brand right now.
Within the first, minute, what is the message? What is it that they’re like, oh, that’s the problem that this business solves? Or, what’s your definition on What are you going to be known for? What do you want your business to be known for? What is the problem that you solve, the desire that you fulfill as a business?
Who is it for? What is that problem you solve and what do you stand for? You can’t have the next two Cs that I’m gonna talk about without clarity, and I think most businesses lack this clarity because they lack depth within the clarity they lack being able to say. Yeah I am for moms or I’m for business owners.
But then getting really specific on who that persona is, what type of a person it is, what they believe in, what they’re frustrated about, what they want, that they don’t have. Typical, yeah, ideal customer, but really clear on this is the brand that we have. This is the business. This is the brand. We need to have that clarity.
So that’s the first. C. The next C can only come when you have the clarity. But it’s my favorite one because this is what makes the difference between you’re a clear business that you know, creates content, has a marketing strategy, and executes all the things, and checks all the boxes, and you’re one that actually stands out.
So the next one is conviction. An Unignorable brand has conviction behind what they do, behind what they say. They know what they stand for, they know what they don’t stand for. They know what they believe in, and they are not a neutral party on these pieces. And I wanna talk about this one. So I asked some really good questions in these workshops on what are the.
The truths or the processes or the methods that are outdated that you are actively working against or you are saying don’t work anymore, whatever in your industry. So you wanna pull that out. And I notice that sometimes in these moments, people get caught up in what is my ideal customer gonna say about this?
And we do a lot in marketing around. Talking and using the language that your ideal customer uses, creating things for your ideal customer. And I believe all of that is valid, right? Like we wouldn’t have a business if we didn’t know who our ideal customer was and knew who we’re creating stuff for and why we’re creating it.
However, I do see people cross over this line where they get so wrapped up in that, that they lose their own conviction in it. And the reality is, if you are a business owner and a creator. You are also a leader in the industry, and there are some things in most industries. There’s something like if you think about business, there’s this, if you think about like health and wellness right now, there’s the peptides and the GLP ones, and there’s things that.
People, your people are looking to leaders to have the, I wanna say knowledge, but it’s not just information. To know what to think about these, and while nobody should just outsource their thinking to someone else, regardless, what I’m trying to say is, you’re a leader in your industry and so you can get lost when it comes to conviction in overthinking everything you’re creating for your ideal customer that you lose what you really think.
One thing that I would ask people is like, when you’re stuck on, I don’t know what to say about this, or I don’t know how to use this language, or I don’t know how to frame this part of my niche, or the problem I solve, sit with the question of what do I really think? What do I really think about this?
I’ll give you an example. I just hosted a, bonus call for a group of people. And one of the questions her audience is women with a DHD. And we were talking about going at the angle of empowerment and a DHD can be a superpower when you know how to leverage it and you know how to use it and work with it in your life instead of going at the angle of like you’re a victim to having a DHD.
And she said I like that angle and I do think it can I, she didn’t say I do think that yet, but she did say, but. I am worried because when I go in groups, I see people who get frustrated when people say A DHD is a superpower because they’re struggling and they’re like, don’t say it’s a superpower because I’m really struggling, so how could it be a superpower?
But then she said, but I don’t know if that’s my ideal customer and who I wanna work with, because I do wanna work with people who are like, let me be empowered with this. Let me leverage it. And so I said, instead of worrying for. Second on what other people are saying and the language they’re using and not wanting to upset one group or another.
I want you to actually sit with what do you think? Do you think A DHD is a superpower? Is that a message you wanna get behind and promote and encourage and create that messaging because that is where the conviction will come from. If you don’t think that, if you think. Let’s stop saying that.
Let’s look at it this way instead. Then that’s the direction you need to go. So my point being, it is super important to understand the language your ideal customer uses. A hundred percent. It’s important to understand how they’re relating and communicating and aligning your marketing with that.
You don’t wanna cross over the line where you lose your own conviction because you’re worried that if you say something, it’s gonna upset somebody else, or it’s going to exclude a group of people because you don’t know if that is truly what you believe. If this person truly believes either A DHD is a superpower and you should leverage it and fully believes that and wants to get behind that message, or let’s just say the opposite. They’re like, I hate that people are saying that and I think this is what we, how we should look at it differently. Either way is right, quote, like it’s not right or wrong, but you’re gonna attract certain people with that and you’re actually gonna repel the people who don’t agree with that, and so therefore you have more powerful messaging.
I’m not saying to force conviction, don’t go out and start saying crazy things just because you’re trying. To come off convicted, but you have to get so clear in what you stand for and what you don’t stand for, and where you’re not neutral in your business. And when it comes to solving the problem that you solve, or fulfilling the desire that you fulfill, you have to go layers deep so that you understand that conviction.
Because if that can come through in your messaging, that is how you become unignorable. Think about, I had all these examples when I taught a workshop, but I could say. I help people with their marketing, or I help people create a marketing strategy, or I could say a convicted statement around, if you don’t have a marketing strategy that’s infused with you and your message, it’s never gonna work.
Right, which one is gonna stand out more? It’s not just about what you say, it’s how you say things. It’s how you represent them. You can say the exact same thing and the exact same statements and the exact same message in a business in two completely different ways. And one is polarizing and one is convicted and the other is not.
And one attracts and draws people to you. And the other is. Kind of vanilla and like just blends in. But that comes from the conviction. And the conviction has to come from you understanding what you stand for, what you don’t stand for, and getting clear on that. And then getting, putting power behind that message and courage behind that.
And I think oftentimes people don’t put the courage behind it because they haven’t asked themselves the hard questions first. And then. Second they haven’t gone deep with the thinking, like this example of this person who serves women with A DHD. I don’t think she’d asked herself those questions yet.
She looked at it from, I don’t want to upset this group of people and this is what I see people saying in Facebook groups, which is like a piece of it. Sure. Then it’s what do I really think based on my expertise, based on how I’ve helped other clients, based on the process and the methods I use, based on how I know you can go from here to here?
What do I think? So really sit with those questions. When you combine clarity on the problem you solve, the desire, you fill clarity on who the brand is for clarity on what you stand for, the mission, the values, like that brand identity. With conviction, you start to become that very unignorable brand and all of this is infused in everything you do.
The next one and the last C is consistency. So we need clarity and we need conviction, and then we need to like layer all of that with consistency and two types of consistency. One is the obvious one of consistently showing up, consistently being top of mind. You teach the audience that you’re always there.
The brands that create content and then go silent for a month and then create some content and then disappear. There’s a natural kind of distrust for that type of a brand in a business. So consistency in how you show up, but also consistency in the actual message if you lose yourself, which comes back to the conviction.
If you lose your. Self in what you stand for and you waver and you go like strong and then you pull back and then you’re not consistent in the message. You also aren’t creating that unignorable brand. So you have to be consistent in the way that you communicate the message around what you stand for and what you don’t stand for, and get it to the point where when somebody thinks of your brand, they immediately are like, oh yeah, if I asked someone like, tell me about that brand.
They know. They know what you stand for. They know what you don’t stand for. Like they, there’s a message that has to come from consistency. So the way we have to create consistency is go number one, like what is a cadence that I can commit to showing up with? Do I need to get help? What is that cadence literally in terms of content creation, how often you show up?
And then how do I create consistency in my message and consistently repeat? Key core components to that message. So you start to build that brand and these three things will equal having a brand that stands out. And then in the event, I found people asking a lot of times entrepreneurs get caught up in the best practices of like, how much do I post?
What type of content do I create, how much do I email? Can I do this type of content or this type of content? And I found myself coming back to, if these things are in place, if this foundation is in place, if you have the clarity, you have the conviction, you have the consistency, then. Those other things don’t matter as much.
Like you have a lot more creative freedom with those things of what type of content you create and how much you post and how you structure a podcast. If the foundation, which this is the foundation, if that brand identity is clear and consistent, then you can have variety in the way that you express it.
And I also found myself within this. Encouraging people to have more fun, get out of the box that you’ve put yourself in that told you have to create content this way and video this way, and create one carousel and one reel and this type of content, and give yourself some more creative expression in how you create it, as long as it’s connected to that clarity, that conviction, and then you’re consistent.
It’s okay if you have that creative expression and the reality is like you. Are the magic in your business? And your creativity. Content creation is art. Your creativity and your desire to connect with your audience through that is the magic of your business. So don’t let another teacher or another inspiration or somebody else take you away from that.
So these three Cs don’t just matter for content, like they matter for all of your messaging, your emails, your opt-in pages, all of it. You’ve gotta have that clarity, that conviction, that consistency. And so each of these, if you’re listening to this. If you’re in our obsessed membership, you can go listen to my workshop.
I did listen to the questions, go through the process. If you’re not, you can think through this and really ask yourself like, how do I dig deeper on each of these three seeds? Because this is the year of becoming an unignorable business, and I believe these are the three pieces like ingredients. Every one of us, including myself, needs to go deeper on in order to have that.
So hopefully you guys found that helpful today. Thank you so much for tuning in, and I will talk to you guys next time.
